Why should I go to Munich?

Munich is a city that I find to be open and accessible. It has a great mix of history and old world charm along with a vibrant beer hall culture which never fails to get me in. You wander down the streets and see some folks still wearing the traditional costumes. So thought that today I would check out the hotels in Munich.

Those of you that enjoy quirky shopping experiences will find shops like no other in this city. I always have an internal argument with my self over what I’m going to splash out on, and how am I going to get it home. Fortunately most of the shops can arrange postage home at a reasonable cost. So i thought that in this post I would explore the hotels in Munich.

The Beer Halls

Even if you’re not a drinker I would strongly recommend try a beer hall just once for the experience. Once inside, immerse yourself in the culture. The costumes, the magnificent hearty German cuisine, and the atmosphere. Of course I also happen to love beer, and the Bavarian’s have beer making in their DNA. A song will start up at one of the tables and the whole hall joins in, or just starts clapping along if they don’t know the words.

We have also found these halls to be aggression free. In a lot of places in the world if you opened up a hall to sell massive amounts of beer , then you would need security working the doors. Not here. No-one is here to fight. They are just out for a good time.

Getting Around

Munich has a light rail system, subway and buses that are very easy to use and have all the efficiency that you would expect from the Germans. Not to mention that they are very clean. We found that this is the best way to access the city, and the price is quite reasonable. Click here to check out the public transport in Munich. That said however, Munich is in an amazing part of the world and there are dozens of day trips right on your door step. For this reason I would also recommend having a car.

Whether you plan to have a few days in and around the city, and then hire a car for a small portion is something you’ll have to decide based on personal preferences. But be warned, the vistas around here are stunning and it is quite easy to become distracted while driving.

Parking

Parking in the Munich surrounds is fairly straightforward, and most places use ticket machines that can be used with a credit card. The hotels that I list down below all have parking available, usually at a small additional fee.

Hotels in Munich

There are a few things that I always look for in a hotel and these Munich hotels are no different. Firstly I always try to find a place that serves breakfast. Whether that is free or at a small additional cost doesn’t matter too much. But I find that not having to search for food first thing in the morning is a good start.

I enjoy driving so I always need somewhere that has parking. With a large family it is a definite advantage to have laundry facilities on site, rather than having to lug your washing around the city.

Anyway, here are a few hotels in Munich that tick the right boxes for me. Maybe they’ll work for you. If you click the hotel name it will take you to the Booking.com site, so that you can check them out yourself.

Cheers and happy travels
