Hotels near Disneyland Paris

Why?

If I find myself anywhere near Paris then it stands to reason that I’m going to want to spend some time in Disneyland Paris. For a start it can make the culture shock of landing in a new country a whole lot easier.

You have the comfortable familiar embrace of the Disney that you know and love, but with a continental flavor that helps to ease you into your European vacation.

In particular when looking at the hotels near Disneyland Paris I will be focusing on the Val d’Europe region in Marne La Valley, which I think is the best option for exploring Disneyland Paris.

Val d’Europe

So anyone who has read my post on the original Disneyland will know that Walt Disney did not want to repeat the situation that occurred in Anaheim, with hotels and shops butted up firmly against the park. He felt that it detracted from the magic of the park. So in each park since, the Disney corporation has ensured that they have enough land to create a buffer around the parks, and Disneyland Paris follows this model.

So Val d’Europe is a commercial centre that is as close as possible to the park, with a range of hotels and amenities to suit the traveller. For a start there is the RER train station, which is the last stop before the park, and the trip takes 5 minutes to get you to the park entrance.

The train station itself is set within the shopping precinct which has everything you could need while on your holiday.

From memory I think they have about 140 shops within the main structure plus a whole lot more shops and cafes around the edge of it. The shopping centre opens at 10.00 am and closes at 9.00 pm.

Added to this they also have a world class aquarium. This would be a perfect activity for your check in day. Drop your bags at the hotel, stock up on essentials at the shops, located the train station and check your ticketing options, then spend some leisure time at the aquarium. That way, the next day you are ready for a full day run at Disney.

The hotels then surround the shopping centre, so you are generally just a 5-10 minute walk away from the station, with the ability to grab some lunch or breakfast on the way in. We have tried doing Disneyland Paris from both Val d’Europe and from Paris itself and in the future I will be sticking to Val d’Europe.

The trip from Gare de Lyon in Paris to the park is 35-40 minutes by train plus the time it takes you to get to that train station, so it could easily be a 90-120 minute commute each day. If you are doing that each day with kids then it will wear you down.

Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris is also not a single day option. You might think that you can cover it in one day, but you can’t. You will have missed a whole lot of shows and attractions. Lets face it there is so much to take in just standing in line for the rides, that you you need to ride them several times to get the full picture.

I would recommend 3 full days to get a fuller picture. Spend a full day at the Magic Kingdom side, then a full day at the Disney Studios park. On the 3rd day jump between the two parks to top up on your favourite bits. If you would like to check out my post for the original Disneyland hotels, click here.

Hotels

So lets have a look at the hotels in this region. If you’ve read any of my other blogs you will know that I tend to have a criteria that I like to follow. I like to have parking available, because I generally hire a car. You definitely need a car to get the most out of France. There are so many hidden gems that you will find by just driving around and stumbling on them.

A breakfast option is also a bonus as it means I can hit the ground running. In this case it would be easy to pick up a bite to eat at the shopping centre. And finally, laundry facilities, because I like to travel light and I don’t mind doing some washing on holiday. I generally spend this time writing in my journal anyway, so it’s not wasted time.

Anyway here’s the hotels that line up well for me. If you want to have a closer lok at them, just click on the name and the link will open a new window and take you to Booking.com where you can check prices and availability.

Cheers and happy travels
